Two new videos

Due to security issues, we cannot post many of the photos and videos we took from the Retreat.

However, here are two that we’re excited to share! They’re both of the Cassel family — Mike and Lori and their son, Ben — BIC workers in Mexico.

The first is of Lori and Ben singing “Dame tus ojos,” and the second is of Mike talking about what (good things) happened when no one showed up at his church plant’s first service.

Enjoy!

Going to all the world

On Monday night, BIC workers connected for a final evening of worship and learning together. Chris Sharp, executive director of BIC World Missions, put it well when she said, “Times together like this are so sweet. Gathering worshipping prayer together — it just doesn’t get any sweeter than this for me.”

Here are a few photos that illustrate just how sweet those moments were:

Global stories — Baptisms in Malawi

We just discovered that we can’t upload photos onto this site . . . so we invite you to visit the BIC Church Facebook page to view the video of Doug and Barb Miller, BIC workers in Malawi, as they share about the very first baptism service they held earlier this year for believers they’ve been ministering to. Although they expected about 15 to choose to make the public declaration of faith, twice that number (30 men and women) did so!

It’s a wonderful story of transformation!

Postures of worship

Yesterday, the group participated in a worship exercise to help illustrate their faith walk in that moment. Each person received a lump of Play-Dough, which they shaped into an image of themselves in a posture of worship. Then, they took their shaped clay and arranged it near the cross, positioning their figures in relation to the cross depending upon their thoughts and feelings.

At the end of the exercise, we had a mosaic of worshipping figures: Some depicted workers weighed down by sorrow so heavy that they could barely look up to the cross. Others represented workers filled with joy, literally leaping before the cross. Still others revealed workers in quiet contemplation before the cross.

As this exercise illustrates, we are all invited — whether in joy or sorrow, sickness or health, discouragement or elation, on a spiritual high or in a valley of shadow — to come to the cross and worship our Lord!

Day 1 – At the beach

After a welcome, the group boarded a boat and headed out to Tabarca Island, where kids romped in the sea, the adults enjoyed the surf, and the teens explored the various outdoor cafes and old buildings.

Here are a few shots from our day!

Day 1 – Everybody now!

Yesterday, this room was empty. Today, 145 BIC men, women, and children gathered for the opening of the 2011 BIC World Missions Global Retreat. As you can see, this caused a flurry of activity!
